I'm trying to convert the html page to a single file. 2) I'm not trying to edit a web page or the html. The export pull down does not include converting to a. No OO option appears to be missing in the Install options. > -> Two things: 1) I can't get the export to. From what I've read there may be some default in Writer that needs to be set up differently before I paste a. How do I setup and do the same with Writer now? It makes sense that it is/should be possible to do. I'm assuming at this point I've made matters more difficult then they have to be? When I used Office Word (I no longer have it) I could copy and paste an html into a blank Word document and the graphics would be embeded-I think-no separate folder containing the graphic images. With the folder location restored If I break these links their locations still show but they remain empty. odt shows the graphic locations with a link to where the folder was last located. jpg graphic files that reside in a separate folder. So what is the right way to take an html document with graphics in it and convert it to a single file (.odt Writer)? The best so far is I have the. doc file.Writer can read doc files so wouldn't it then be able to see and display the embeded graphics? I think I better get the export to. _If_ that is the case though and I do export to a. doc because I don't think I installed that option-else I misunderstood what you said. Do you think there will ever be a Writer version that will embed graphic images into an. doc file with graphic images embeded but Writer cannot display the embeded graphics-for that I need Word if I must Edit or PDF if I don't need to edit? This seems to be a major difference between Word and Writer. Just so I'm certain I understand what you are saying.odt cannot embed graphic images but. If you want one file with all objects embedded, save as odt for your working copy, export to Word "doc" format for MS Office users to work with (editable), and/or export to pdf for anyone to view (basically not editable). When you next save as html, Writer will make new, local links to everything that isn't text, and save each object separately. If you break the links in Writer, you've just broken the links to the external source. It would have been so simple if there was some parameter to set in OO to imbed and save html graphics all in one. No doubt a 3rd party program as suggested above would have made this a lot earsier but I don't do this sort of thing to often and I love to figure out ways to make what I've got work for me like it should. Since I'm now not certain of anything I've removed the green checkmarks. So far it does want to default back to no images but it looks like if I force SWriter to load the. I can now open the file using SWriter (Why the 'S'?) disconnected and get the images. odt document but it can't and I couldn't find any option. I don't know why OO won't save the graphics inbedded in the. I was wrong anyway to when I said it was solved-it wasn't because I had forgotten to disconnect from the Internet and OO loaded the graphics links.
